Make::Cheap

How to Make things as close to free as possible.

This page is about making something free.  Or nearly free. Or, scrounged, begged, borrowed and thrifted into existance.  Some call  it Yankee Ingenuity, others, Revival Engineering.  It completely blossoms when necessity rules.  To be cliche, "Necessity is the mother of invention."

Our Mission

To create an Open Source Competition to design and offer the "best" of how to make something.  Be it how to make the best concrete pillar to how to build the best railgun, Make::Cheap will show you who's submitted the best solution to the problem.  This augments Make Magazine (Oreilly & associates) general idea of back yard construction.

Solutions will be based upon:

  • Cost
  • Free - If you have a solution that can be made out of freely available parts the better.
  • Scrounge
  • Recycle
  • Availability
  • Durability
  • Ease of construction
  • Idiot proofing aka Safety

All of us.  By offering a consolidated view of HowTo build things, the original author benefits from increased exposure.  Improved peer review.  And if they offer a kit or manufactured version, they may profit, as well.  Hey, honestly now, I don't believe anyone is against making an honest $.  :)
